HVAC Update

The process to acquire and implement a new Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system for the church has made much progress since our last communication with the congregation. We recently reviewed the drawings and proposal from our engineering consultant which will form the basis of our Request for Proposal from qualified local contractors. We will be conducting a bidders conference at the church the afternoon of November 17 to review the proposal. After meeting with the potential bidders we will be anticipating receiving proposals for the new system by mid December and hope to award the contract prior to Christmas, if all goes well.

We have received initial approval for a loan from PCUSA and hope to finalize to finalize this process when we have made a vendor selection and determine the final price for the project. The terms and conditions for the loan are very favorable with an interest rate of 2.8% and 20 year term. We also look forward to evaluating proposals to replace some of the lighting in the church. The potential savings anticipated with the new HVAC system and lighting will help to offset the cost of the overall project.

Included below is the current schedule for the project. As you might note, we hope to have the new system in operation prior to the 2017 cooling season. We are looking at scheduled church events and activities for the next 5-6 months to help with a smooth and phased implementation. Our objective is to have the least impact on the congregation and its tenants. We will be seeking your support and input throughout the entire process.
