Congregational Meeting

The Session has called a Congregational Meeting to follow the morning service of worship on Sunday, July 23, 2017, for the purposes of (1) hearing and acting on the report and recommendations of the Pastor Nominating Committee, (2) calling a Pastor, and (3) approving the Pastor’s Terms of Call. All members and friends of Central Presbyterian Church are urged to be present for this important and joyous meeting!

A message from Rev. Bill Poe, Interim Pastor:

Dear CPC Family,

After almost two years of waiting, praying, and working, we are nearing the end of the Pastoral Search Process.

At the Session Meeting Monday night, we received a report and a request from your Pastor Nominating Committee.  They have a candidate to recommend to you!!  They asked that the Session call a Congregational Meeting to follow the morning service of worship on Sunday, July 23rd, so that you might hear and act on their report and recommendations, and vote to call a Pastor!  This is exciting news!!

It is important that you know that we are still at a stage in the process where the name of the candidate cannot yet be revealed.  That person is actively serving another congregation, and deserves the opportunity to share the news of this new call and to say good-bye in appropriate ways.

The projected start date for the new Pastor is Wednesday, September 6th, and your first Sunday with two Installed Pastors in the chancel will be September 10th!  Preparations for a welcome celebration will be underway shortly.

Tell your friends!  If you know of people who have not been present with us for a while as we have been in transition, let them know the good news!  If you have been waiting to formalize your relationship to this church community, your wait is over!

We are approaching the closing of one chapter in the life of Central Presbyterian Church and the opening of a new one.  We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the PNC for their months of hard and prayerful work.  The members of the Committee are: Dan Chamberlin, Martha Collins, Alice Day, Gary Gibbs, Will Slade, Kendrick Torbey (Chair), and Gloria Walls. We also owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the members of your devoted church staff who have kept the church going, growing, and serving through this transitional time.

Thanks be to God!
