Stewardship 2024

It’s hard to feel safe in a world riddled with conflict and violence, where basic civil rights are threatened each day. But our safety doesn’t just come from eliminating all threats. It comes from opening our hearts to connect with God and our neighbors. At Central Presbyterian Church we do that through worship, service, and spiritual formation courses.

Each year, we ask our church family to make pledge commitments of their offerings, time, and talents for the coming year in support of Central’s ministries. Together our annual contributions make it possible for us to worship God, grow in faith, and serve our community and each other.

As we serve together in ministry and mission, your generosity to Central will prove to be as much of a blessing to you as it is to the members of your church family.

As you prayerfully consider your pledge, we invite you to take a look at the ministries supported by our budget and join us in celebrating what God continues to do through Central.

The following narrative budget represents our typical working budget and the cost of our ministry at Central. Each annual budget is created based on pledges made for that year.

Expenses:

Note that the amount indicated in each category reflects estimated staff time as well as expenses related to administration, technology, utilities, facility maintenance, and supplies.

Worship:

Our faith and our progressive values are expressed through worship. We are inspired by outstanding music and thoughtful sermons that encourage us to contemplate God’s love for us and what we are called to do in response to that love. Members will serve as worship readers, ushers, and greeters, prepare and serve communion, provide livestreams and recordings,  and prepare the sanctuary as they work with our pastors to create an uplifting worship experience.

Growing in Faith:

We grow in faith as we connect with scripture through classes and activities for adults, children, and youth. Spending time with each other also enables us to forge deep connections that enhance our faith even more and affirm that we are the church together. After church refreshments and monthly potluck lunches offer us the opportunity to grow in friendship with those we already know and to welcome newcomers. Small groups that meet during the week led by volunteers or staff are another way to grow friendships and to lovingly support each other. Our pastors and deacons lead us in demonstrating our faith by caring for and supporting each other in times of celebration and in sorrow.

Service:

Mission outreach is a major focus of our work at Central. Through this outreach, we practice our faith and proclaim a message of love and peace. God’s love flows through our mission commitments. Our Neighbors Helping Neighbors Team provides support to our neighbors experiencing homelessness through several programs, including Central Mission and Hen’s Den. Through our Mission Partners program, we support projects with other organizations both locally and globally. We also open our doors to other groups in our community for concerts, meetings, and English as a Second Language classes.

How to Make Your Commitment

  • Begin with Prayer. Thank God for your blessings and ask for guidance and discernment as you consider your financial commitment as well as your time and talents.
  •  Set your giving goal and commitment. Think about your current financial giving and how you may be able to increase that amount. Think about the time and talents you can dedicate to supporting Central as we are the church together.
  • Make a financial pledge. Pledges enable church leadership to plan for supporting our ministries. You can make your financial pledge using the form at the bottom of this page or mail your pledge information to: Bookkeeper, Central Presbyterian Church, 200 E. 8th Street, Austin, TX 78701.
  • All our giving options are listed at cpcaustin.org/giving. Place your offering in the collection during worship if you prefer.

Thank you for your Support!

Your prayers, gifts, and service to Central have enabled us to continue to be a welcoming, life-changing congregation.

Your generosity makes a difference in countless lives — our church would not be the same without you. Everything we are able to do for each other and for our community witnesses to our uncommon hospitality, commitment to spiritual growth, and boundless love.

As Christians we recognize that everything we have comes from God and that we are invited to be stewards of these gifts in ways that witness to the love and grace we have been given. Through our financial, time, and talent offerings we demonstrate our faith as we express our love for God, for each other, and for our neighbors. We are the church together.
