Pastor Nominating Committee Elected
A Congregational Meeting was held on August 28, 2016 following worship for the purpose of electing a Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC). After a national search, the PNC will nominate their finalist to be the next Senior Pastor and Head of Staff of Central Presbyterian Church. The following members were elected to serve on the PNC: Martha Collins, Dan Chamberlin, Kendrick Torbey, Gary Gibbs, Gloria Walls, Will Slade, and Alice Day.
These individuals served on the Transition Team and recently completed a self-assessment of the congregation. This group represents the diversity of the congregation in terms of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, single, married, working, retired, and parents with younger children. Some have been long term members and some are newer members. These individuals have been youth advisors, elders, and deacons and church school teachers. They have worked in the areas of Christian education, Central Mission, worship leadership, maintenance of the building, and church personnel work. Some have been Presbyterians all their lives and others are new to the tradition. I believe the Nominating Committee succeeded in creating a talented and diverse committee that represents CPC.
The PNC is already hard at work on the many efforts involved in this process. Please keep them in your prayers as they devote their time and talent to this important task.
