Thursday Noon Concerts

This is Austin’s longest running free weekly concert series (since 1980.) When Covid hit, we had to go online, but we kept going with online concerts each week, some live, some videoed. Covid changed many things, and one is the availability of musicians to play each week, so for now, we’ll have one live concert monthly, on 2nd Thursdays. The other weeks will be online, some will be videos of musicians who will be online with us, and some will be curated from YouTube videos, but we’ll continue to have great music each week.

Live in-person in our Sanctuary!

 About our Musical Artist:

Engaging audiences with his charismatic and moving performances, pianist Aaron Kurz enjoys a burgeoning career. Kurz has soloed with numerous orchestras and across three continents, in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Salle Cortot, and the Palace of Peace and Harmony in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. His performances have been lauded by the press, called both “nuanced musical journeys” (Belgium’s”Le Soir”;) and “a lesson in pianism” (England’s “Cambridge Independent”).
Kurz’s playing has also garnered recognition in competitions, winning top prizes in the New York, Los Angeles, Virginia Waring, and World Piano Teachers Association International Piano Competitions, among others. An avid performer, he has played extensively in North America, Europe, and Asia. His playing took him to China in 2018, where he gave multiple performances and taught, and he is poised to return soon for a three-city tour.
Mr. Kurz believes artists have an obligation to use their craft to improve the world, and he has worked significantly in this capacity. Alongside concertizing, he has worked with the Van Cliburn Foundation, Lift Music Foundation, and has given numerous outreach concerts in the Bay Area.
Kurz holds recent degrees from SFCM (studying with Jon Nakamatsu and Jeremy Denk) and Yale (studying with Boris Berman), and he has just begun his DMA at the University of Texas under the tutelage of Anton Nel.
