Staff Changes: You can help!
(Rita Livingston’s announcement on Sunday, July 22)
Good Morning, Friends.
I stand before you today with a profound sense of gratitude and excitement, coupled with sadness. We are experiencing a change in staff unlike anything I have experienced in my 25 years as a member here at Central. Fortunately, all the people resigning are leaving their current positions for a positive reason: Kim to become the Pastor of Round Rock PC; Win to retirement; and Katy to full-time employment at the Attorney General’s Office with Victim Services. I am personally excited for each of them.
More good news: Win and Susan are staying around. Win has agreed to continue as music and special events coordinator. That means SXSW will continue. Kathi Thomas will still coordinate the music for the Thursday Noon Concerts. Win will be helping with Central Mission for a couple of months. And Katy has agreed to work with the Youth on an interim basis. So, we will continue to see Win and Katy on a regular basis.
Your personnel team is meeting weekly to make decisions about filling the vacant positions. We have already identified several people who are willing to work on an interim basis to help us carry out the mission of our church among our members and with our neighbors. The interim positions will allow us to have time to seek God’s plan for our future with your input. We want and need to know what you see as priorities, as we work to fulfill God’s calling at this time and in this place. We’ll use a variety of methods to get congregational input. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to contact any of your personnel team members. They are: Tom Clemons, Gary Gibbs, Kevin Cruser, Christine McManus, Martha Collins, and me.
If you are feeling anxiety or fear around CPC’s future, I want you to know that your personnel team and session, with your input, have got this. In fact, all the ministry teams will work together. The personnel team believes God has opened these doors to give us an opportunity to assess and plan for a wonderful future of service, learning, and stewardship as we use our talents to further God’s work in this community. It is, in fact, a time of celebration for our church and of these individuals whom we have come to know and love—even as we acknowledge how much we will miss Kim.
So, put your creative juices to work and envision, with much prayer and openness to the Holy Spirit, what Central should be now and into the future.
